Relay For Life In The 4-Sim Auditorium
This Saturday we'll be hosting Relay For Life of Second Life's 2008 fund raising effort. The signature activity of the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life is an opportunity for everyone in a community to participate in the fight against cancer.
In practice, a Relay involves teams of people camping out together and taking turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
The Second Life kick off party was in February, and involved well over 100 people crowding a single sim with at least that many watching a video feed out of world. Teams have been forming ever since, and currently there are over 70 teams and 1000 avatars for 2008.
This means that various teams will hold relays from March 15 to July 19th, and are encouraged to get out and do so in Second Life. There will be hundreds of events listed on the event postings, with this Saturday's being the first.
We expect our four sim auditorium to be packed with enthusiastic volunteers raising money for the fight against cancer. If you'd like to join them, make a donation, or just cheer them on, join us this Saturday in Second Life!
